Milestones

Class of 2015!?!?
Wow, that gives me a reality check. She is growing up.
Sophie's last day of 5th grade is today. She'll be on her way to middle school next year.
Time flies.
I read a quote yesterday that really spoke to me. Because it is so hard to let her grow up and know the joys but also the heartache that is ahead of her.
" When we loosen our grip, He tightens His "
She is not mine. I have been entrusted to be her mother for these past wonderful 11 years and hopefully many more to come. But it is my God who holds her in His hands.
I am so proud of the person she is becoming.

Letting them go

Big Mama has a wonderful post today about letting our children grow up. It was something I really needed to read today. Perfect timing! Sophie is heading off to middle school next year and I'm a mess about it :).

Introducing...

Shephard William Whiting
born May 1, 2008
12:52 pm
8 lbs 2 oz
20 1/2 inches long
He is absolutely perfect! We went in to be induced at 6 am on Thursday the 1st. They broke my water at around 7:30 and we waited to see if I would start labor on my own. Didn't really do much of anything so they gave me pitocin at about 9:30. That started it! He was born at 12:52. I did not have an epidural and only pushed 3 times. I feel really pretty good now. He is so sweet and is loved so much by his big sisters.
Sophie of course is so wonderful with him and happy to have her new baby brother. I was a little worried about how G.G. would react, but no need for that. She has been really sweet and it seems like she just understands he is part of our family now. She always walks around saying Daddy, Mommy, Sissy, G.G., naming all the members of her family. Sophie told me that while we were still at the hospital, she was walking around the house saying Daddy, Mommy, Sissy, G.G. and BABY!
Josh is just in love with his little man. He finally has another guy in the house to counteract all this estrogen flying around!

And of course Mommy adores him.
I feel like our family is complete.
