backyard playground

we finally broke down and bought a swing set. we had a perfectly good swing set that sophie got for her (i think) 5th birthday. but our house in helena had no backyard so we ended up giving it away. we had no idea, at that time, that we would be moving again. now we have a huge yard and we need some outside toys for these kiddos. this one was on sale at toys r us. and they are having so much fun.

An outing

It's been ccccold here. Well, for southern Alabama it's cold. So it's been challenging to try and find things to do for the littles. Sophie is back in school and not here to entertain them. So yesterday we ventured out and hit up the local Barnes and Noble for story time. I was three minutes late and missed the story. But we did a craft/coloring project and had a cookie. Then I sat on the floor and read as many books as they brought to me. Another little girl who was three started bringing me books to read as well. Her mom had been on her cell phone the whole time and not paying much attention to her. Finally she walked up to me and said, "I'm sorry, she never wants me to read to her." Ok. After she paced back and forth for a while she asked me if it would be ok if she went to get a drink of water. Sure, no problem. She was gone forever. I thought, maybe she had to go to the bathroom too. Then I thought maybe she left??? Eventually she came back with Starbucks in hand. Wow, she had a little mommy time to herself. Fun. Maybe I'll try that one day. NOT!

Anyway, here's a little glimpse of our outing.

After story time we went to the mall to ride the carousel. Again. That has become our go to activity. But they love it so it works.

All For One and One For All!

GG's favorite movie right now is Barbie and the Three Musketeers. Now she wants to be a musketeer and spends her days running and jumping around the house and quoting movie lines.

Such as " All for One and One for All!" and "Don't mess with the dress!" and she is very into sword fighting.
So Sophie decided to make her a musketeer costume complete with cape and feather. She found my great-grandfathers old hat and fashioned it with a feather. Genius. Oh my goodness, this child was so proud of her outfit.
All I have to say is everyone deserves a big sister like Sophie.

because i have way too many things going on right now and my brain is mush...

so i'm just going to post some pictures of what we've been up to the past couple of weeks. lots of fun! trying to buy a house and get this house ready to sell.

josh bought this jet flame thrower thingie to kill some of the brush in our backyard. sophie has learned a lot about men through this process. she said the other day, " Mommy, I guess that flame thrower thingie (she gets her knowledge of tools from me, thankyouverymuch) was an ok idea but I just think Daddy wanted another toy." Well said my dear, well said.

this is my life with my little boy lately. oh yeah, he's a climber. i've caught him in the kitchen twice up on a chair rifling through drawers. fun days are ahead with this little guy! i'll be really happy if i can just keep him alive through this stage.
and GG, as always, is a princess. which lately she's taken on the princess attitude as well.
and this. well, she said this was her leash.
i'll just call her Dolly.

I walked into the living room yesterday and found this.

Smile!

I think G.G. is just starting to understand the concept of smiling for a picture.
I think it's the cutest little smile I've seen. She's trying so hard.
